We missed one little train..

Berlin - Hamburg, 20th of June

The next morning we took it a bit cruisey, probably too cruisey, as we ended up just missing an S-Bahn connection to the Berlin Hbf and then it turned out there wasn't another one for 25 minutes (they had three within ten minutes and then none for 25... very strange...). So then we missed the actual train to Hamburg we were supposed to catch. So we waited on the S-Bahn platform for 25minutes and then waited at the Berlin Hbf for another hour, all for being 30 seconds too late to get that darned S-Bahn connection. Ah well. At least Berlin Hbf was also basically a shopping mall so we had a way to kill the time without too much trouble.

Model of the Hbf, at the Hbf. Greg was fascinated.

So we got in at Hamburg at 5pm rather than 3pm as originally planned. Not really up for much in the way of sightseeing we checked in, gathered our thoughts, and eventually re-emerged for a mission to get dinner. We went 15mins down the road to a guide-book recommended asian fushion place that had an all-you-can-eat sushi, Chinese food, and freshly wokked meals (you picked your raw ingrediants + sauce and they cooked it up for you within a few minutes), as well as dessert bar. It was still pretty expensive unless you were starving but it was nice to have choice and there was a lot of fresh vegetables which was definitely appealing!

That done we headed back to base, a rather modern and very busy youth hostel, to rest up for some real sightseeing the next day.
