Today was our first real day of sightseeingness and boy was it a doozy!
It started off swimmingly with a delicious rooftop breakfast at our hotel, with views of the sea and fascinatingly terrible coffee. Truly.
The first hour was a bit bumbly as we attempted to find an ATM. Greg had located where one should be using The Technology, but when we got there we found it in amongst a bunch of roadworks, and it was just the little wooden boxes that looked as if they should have the machine inside. But they didn't.
So we tootled off back to the hotel to ask the reception staff and who were able to make a mark on our little map, and in due course we had some cash! We needed to buy some water (oh yeah, Greg read the LP's Turkey Survival guide at 6am this morning and when I woke up I heard all about the vaccinations we should have gotten and many other random things to feel paranoid about, including the evils of the water here!) and sort the cash but we were also keen to get cracking on some sightseeing so we decided to visit the blue mosque before heading back to the hotel for the second time already that morning.
AND... my eyelids are drooping so I'm going to leave it there for now!
Night night!
You must try Turkish Coffee! It is thick and sludgy and Mark love it. Yes... we got a few basic vaccinations and used bottled water the whole time. Bottled water is super cheap at the supermarkets and really expensive at some hotels. We bought a bottle for 7 lira at one hotel and .50 lira at the supermarket. Crazy!
